Are you feeling weighed down by anxiety, uncertainty, or a sense that the world’s expectations don’t quite fit who you are? You’re not alone. Many of us are doing our best to navigate systems that can feel overwhelming, isolating, or unjust.

Kia ora, I’m Sarah, a counsellor, mentor, and researcher passionate about supporting people’s mental wellbeing, and helping them find grounding and meaning in a world that often makes that difficult.

With a Master’s degree in Psychology and over three years of experience walking alongside people through diverse life challenges, I approach mental health as something deeply connected to our social worlds, not just something that lives inside the individual. Our struggles often make sense when seen in context.

In our sessions, I offer a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate space where you can explore what matters most to you. Rather than pathologising distress, I see it as meaningful communication — a signal of where things are misaligned, and where care and change might be needed. Together, we’ll build practical tools for resilience and self-understanding, while also acknowledging and exploring the societal forces that may be shaping your experience.

You deserve support that honours both your individual experience and the broader systems that affect it. If this approach resonates with you, I look forward to connecting.

A note on pricing: I know that support services can be financially inaccessible, so I offer a pay-what-you-can koha approach.

  • I understand the courage it takes to open up and seek support. I provide a compassionate and empathetic space where you can share your thoughts and feelings without fear of judgment. I tailor my approach to suit your needs and the number of sessions you can attend or afford. Everyone is different and requires a different therapeutic approach. The focus may be to help you:

    • Become more aware of your values, goals and life direction

    • Improve your relationships

    • Feel more optimistic about your life

    • Process past experiences

    • To manage particular situations or hardship

  • With a Master of Arts with First Class Honours in Psychology from Auckland University, I bring a strong academic foundation to my work as. I am currently working towards my doctorate in psychology.

Additionally, I have accrued three years of invaluable experience mentoring individuals facing various challenges, drawing upon my education and personal insight to offer guidance and support.

My qualifications, coupled with my practical experience, enable me to offer comprehensive support to individuals seeking to enhance their mental well-being and navigate life's complexities with confidence and resilience.

  • I offer zoom or phone consultations nation wide.

I also offer nature based sessions in the Wanaka region. I am a strong believer in the connecting power of nature, and incorporate a gentle walk alongside the lake into our sessions. I find this particularly valuable for those who may struggle with a more clinical setting or remaining seated for prolonged periods of time.

  • I recognise that accessing care is not easy, and I can work alongside you to find an affordable solution.

My typical rate for an hourly session is $75, however I also offer a pay-what-you-can koha approach.
